Hi Everyone,

One of the exercises that I do with all my clients is to have them write down their shorter term goals (around five years) and their longer term goals (more like 15 years plus, depending on age).

Just about all my clients enjoy it, and for quite a few of them it is difficult as they have never given it any thought. Not giving any thoughts to your goals, both financial and otherwise, will almost certainly guarantee you that you will never reach the financial freedom that you desire.

Not all goals need to be financial, although all of them will have a financial implication. Writing down your goals, thinking about them and reviewing them will give them more importance. Once you have defined them, you will consciously and unconsciously living in a way to achieve them. Where ever you direct your energy, the energy will flow and you will see positive results. Without defining them, you will always be in limbo.

So start writing down your goals, have your significant other do the same independently. Once you are done, compare notes and then start thinking and living that way so you can achieve them.

Good luck, I know it works, I have seen it so many times. This will work no matter where you stand in your financial life.

As always, please feel free to comment.

Cheers,

Patrick
