I believe the only way to financial success is knowing where your expenses go. No matter how much money you are making, if you don’t track your expenses, there is a very high likelyhood that you are spending more than you would if you knew your expenses.

This does not need to be complicated. Track the basic numbers in a spreadsheet, and update it on a regular basis. If you are very tight every month, you might want to be a little more detailed. I have sample spreadsheets under the Resources Tab.
